Boys 2K steeplechase at 2019 Victor Lopez Classic
There are only a few events college/olympic track and field events that aren't traditional high school events. The steeplechase is one of those events. Although it isn't the 3K distance that the next level competes, the 2K steeplechase is increasingly becoming more and more competed in the Texas high school ranks.
This season alone, there have already been four 2K steeplechase competitions this season. That is extraordinary considering the limited amount of steeplechase facilities in the state and those that are available to high school meets.
There are at least two more steeplechase races remaining to be competed this season. One of them is in a few days at the Texas Relays and the other is the TTFCA Meet of Champions (Registration open now).
