Last cross country and track season showed just how good Texas girls are in distance running. The times performed across the board were off the charts during both seasons.
Texas girls produced several sub 17 minute 5Ks during cross. On the track, there were five girls to run 2:10 and under in the 800m, 12 girls ran 4:55 and under in the 1600m, and 13 girls ran 10:40 and under in the 3200m.
That gives hopes to what the 2019 cross country scene could look like. With many top runners from last season returning, we could potentially see things get even faster and better than the 2018 season.
Here are some indicators as to how special this upcoming season could turn out. We have the top returning girls in the 5K and their 2019 outdoor track season bests.
