Watch Kingwood High School (TX) rising senior Myles Marshall win the finals of the boys 800 meter run at the 2014 World Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing, China with a "David Rudisha-esque" race as referred to by the race commentator. Marshall set an aggressive pace from the start to lead the field for the first 400 meters, before having to battle back to regain it in the last 200 meters to 1:49.14 victory and Youth Olympic Gold.

A list of the top 25 fastest returning girls cross country teams within the states of the NXN South Regional including Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Oklahoma, and Texas.  List is generated by using the average time of the top 5 returnees on each team from their 2013 XC season 5K bests. Note that these are not subjective rankings, which we will produce during the season, but a guide to show some of the top teams coming back in the region.

AUSTIN - Saturday marked the debut of the UIL state track and field meet's wheelchair division, with competitors participating in the 100- and 400-meters races and the shot put. Said Kingwood junior Myles Marshall, who repeated as champion in the 800: "With a lot of races, I just make sure that I still think about finishing and still running my race even without the gold medal." The Cypress Springs girls (42 points) finished second behind Converse Judson (66) in 5A, placing in all three relays - the 800 relay finished second and 1,600 relay fifth - and notching a pair of top-six finishes from Essance Sample and Ariah Mack. Kingwood girls set for early test ALEX ALDACO Sep 10, 2013

The Kingwood girls harriers take their first big test Saturday at the Gerald Richey Invitational, Region II's preview meet. The Mustangs opened the season at the Cy Ridge Run the Ridge meet, then went to Montgomery's Moonlight Madness, where they finished third last week. The need for improvement early in the season isn't surprising considering they graduated four of the top five runners from last season: New to the team are senior Emily Potts, who is much improved in her third year in the program, freshman Brianna Nolen, who has a high ceiling, and junior Jennifer Poston, who didn't run last year. Cross country: Raines breaks Kingwood 5K record ALEX ALDACO Sep 18, 2012

Kingwood’s Sandie Raines won her third cross country meet of the season Saturday at the Humble Region 3 Preview and at the same time broke the Mustangs’ 5K record. Her time of 17 minutes, 32.70 seconds was seven seconds faster than the previous record set by Danielle Selner in 2005. Raines has the fastest time in Texas so far this year. It also puts her in the top ten in the nation for the season so far.  (via Your Houston News)

I represent one of the 4 teams from Texas at the first ever Nike Team National event. My intent was to jot down a few items each day and send them to Alex to publish. Little did I know how hard it would be. I am sitting in my room at the Embassy Suites on Friday morning 5:15 local time not really remembering where I am or what time it is.
