Throckmorton took off with a very quick start and crushed the first leg with Nazareth also showing out. Nazareth put it down coming into the first exchange with Roby hot on their heels. Nazareth with a slight lead, Roby in second and Throckmorton back in the picture with their second leg making her presence known.

Throckmorton took the lead and gained some separation coming down the homestretch, but Gordon moved themselves back into the picture to pass the baton first on the second exchange but Throckmorton had something to say about that and took the lead with Gordon slipping in behind them. Blum moved into third place but that wasn't to last as Roby made a move to pass Blum and Gordon to slip back into second place.

Roby with a great kick dashed past Throckmorton going into the final leg. 200m to go and Throckmorton tried to pass Roby on the outside shoulder. Gordon made a mad dash with 150 to go trying to get around the other two girls on the curve.Throckmorton matched Gordon stride for stride leaving Roby behind. Throckmorton not willing to concede and kept her stride crossed the line first with a time of 4:06.93 a new conference 1A meet record while Gordon buckled at the end and fell over the finish line to finish in second place with a time of 4:07.82 and Roby came back to capture the bronze with a time of 4:07.89.
