Texas has a strong history of quality sprinters, and this year is no different. A handful of guys are ready to push the low 10s and take a shot at the 25 year record. It's not often you see sprint records around for that long. This may be the year for Hudson, Flowers, Balous, or another contendor to bring it down. Bold Prediction: 3 athletes will run sub-10 |
Event | Record | Athlete |
200 | 20.13 | Roy Martin (Dallas Roosevelt) 1985 |
Top Returners: '13-'14 Progression | Athlete
22.03 | 20.64 | Andrew Hudson - Schertz Steele |
20.76 | Corey Dauphine - Port Arthur
21.13 | Gerald Mills - Fort Bend Marshall
Andrew Hudson has a legitimate shot at the 100 & 200 record. It's by no means a sure thing, but he has shown to be in good form through the short indoor "season". He ran a low 21 on the banked track at A&M, which is one of the fasest times in the country. A good sign moving into the outdoor season. Bold Prediction: 2 athletes return with times under 21s, we will see AT LEAST 15 guys break that mark this season. |
Event | Record | Athlete |
400m | 45.19 | Aldrich Bailey (Mansfield Timberview) 2012 |
Top Returners: '13-'14 Progression | Athlete
48.68 | 46.45 | Keshun Reed - Arlington Martin |
50.17 | 47.48 | Wilbert London - Waco High |
48.25 | 47.53 | Terry Brown - Round Rock |
It will be a long shot for anyone to challenge Bailey's record in 2015. Though with solid improvement from all of the Top-3 returners, it's well within reason for them all to be running sub-46. Bold Prediction:State champs finals will see all 8 athletes under 48s |
