Coming off of his gold medal in the Shot Put, Adrian Piperi is back looking for another in the discus. He advanced to the final after throwing 58.62m on his final throw to hit the auto qualifying standard.
In similar fashion, Gabriel Oladipo also moves into the final with a 58.59m on his final toss. Oladipo's throw beats his mark at World Youth Trials and is now a season best for him using the lighter World Youth disc.
Both athletes will have plenty of work to do in the final against athletes with some impressive 60+ meter throws today and in their respective national qualifying meets. They were both ranked outside of the Top-15 coming into the competition. Seeing that they now stand 5th & 6th heading into the final is a good sign that they can both contend for a spot on the podium!
