Girls Varsity 5A and Under Recap

The girls 5A and under varsity race came down to the wire between two runners. Frisco Liberty's Carrie Fish and Dallas Ursuline Academy's Kate Patrick. Within the first mile they had separated themselves from the pack running side by side. The chase pack consisted of several runners including Frisco Independence Grace Plain, Grapevine's Lindsey Smyth and Frisco Wakeland's Carter Yake. Fish and Patrick stayed neck in neck through the two mile mark. Eventually the chase pack strung out slowly throughout the race. Around two and a half miles Fish separated from Patrick to take the lead. Fish took the win running 19:17, followed by Patrick who ran 19:26.
Team Recap:
The team battle looked like it was going to be close at the mile there were several runners from, Ursuline, Grapevine, and Magnolia High in the top 20. That would soon change by two miles it became a two horse race between the girls from Magnolia and the girls from Ursuline. In the end it was the team from Ursuline Academy who came out on top. What really helped them out was the second place finish from Patrick. Ursuline Academy's lowest top 5 finisher was 23rd. Magnolia High ended up in second with the best 1-5 spread in the top3, of 56 seconds.
