Rebecca Story 16:57 Takes Jesse Owens Classic Over Big Names In Southeast
Unheralded sophomore Rebecca Story of Christian Academy of Knoxville took some big scalps on Saturday morning at Oakville Indian Mounds Park with a 16:57.44 course record win over NXN All-American Taylor Cuneo (17:30) and former course record holder, Alabama state record holder Amaris Tyynismaa (17:42).
Story could stand to make some moves in national standings after beating Cuneo, a Saucony Flo50 bubble individual.
Javan Winders of Henry County, Tenn. ran 15:15.32 for the boys title to set a new personal best after finishing runner-up here one year ago in 15:30.
