Jostyn Andrews Preps For Jesuit-Sheaner Relays!

We caught up with Andrews last weekend after the Arlington Bowie Volunteer Relays. In the interview, we talked about his race's, goals for the season and his group text with some of the best 400m guys in the state. Texas MileSplit: Were here with Joyston Andrews from Dallas Skyline he won the 400m earlier today helped his team, you guys took 2nd in the 4x400m or 3rd?  

Jostyn Andrews: 3rd 

Texas MileSplit:  3rd in the 4x4 helped his team get that third place. Ahh talk to me a little about today's accomplishments and your time there in the 400m?

Jostyn Andrews: I'm today I felt really good, coming out and trying to execute my race. I don't try to chase times I just let it come to me. So today I ran 46.97 and I feel real good. 

Texas MileSplit: Yeah you said it's one of the top times in the nation you said third in the nation. Umm you know hows it feel to be running that fast and that good this early?

Jostyn Andrews: You Know I'm just blessed, God put me in this position, put everybody in this position to run without feet you can't do nothing. So I feel real good just being up here at the top like that.

Texas MileSplit: What are some of your big goals this year? Umm you made it to state last year correct? 

Jostyn AndrewsNo no no, just regionals I didn't make it to State. 

Texas MileSplit: What are some of your goals then this year I mean (after) not making it to state last year? 

Jostyn AndrewsMaking it to state that's my number one goal. Helping my team accomplish many goals and you know just helping myself. 

Texas MileSplit: How's it feel coming in your definitely one of the top guys in the state returning this year. How's that fell ya know there's a lot of good guys, Keshun Reed, Alison Champion down near Houston how's it feel to be running that fast and your up with those guy, ya know just tearing it up? 

Jostyn Andrews: O, I feel good. We (are) in a little group message me, Keshun, Champ, we go at it all the time we talk about...I sent them my time today they were like "man, man, man, man."  So we go at it all the time and we talk all the time about our goals and we just trying to reach our goals together.

Texas MileSplit: That's awesome you guys all have like a little group message where you pump each other up? 

Jostyn Andrews: Yes! Always! 

Texas MileSplit: How's that feel to be so close-knit even though your miles apart? To be that close knit and know hey he's on a different team but he's still got my back, he still wants me to do the best I can do? 

Jostyn Andrews: I mean that's track it's not....track is unlike any other sport. Football I mean your team gotta win. Track I mean track you want to win, but track everybody's close in track. You can go anywhere and sit beside anybody in a stadium and just talk about track. You can talk for three hours just to talk to them about track and field it feels real(ly) good. 

Texas MileSplit: Awesome man! Anything else you'd like to add about today's performances your goals for the rest of the year? 

Jostyn Andrews: I mean let's get to state and go TCU go Horn Frogs!

Texas MileSplit: What are you looking forward to most about this weekend's match-up?

Jostyn AndrewsThe thing I'm looking forward to most about this weekend's match-up is the chance to run against the top runners in the metroplex and to see the diverse showcase of talent.

Texas MileSplit: How are you preparing for this meet? Are you doing anything different? What are some of your workouts this week?  
 
Jostyn AndrewsGoing into This meet physical Training has been the same, but what we have been working on at Skyline Is coming to the meet more mentally prepared and Working on putting my feet down faster due to my enormous stride.

Texas MileSplit: You talked a little about the group text in the interview, how's it been this week after both yourself and Reed having big runs last weekend, and the big matchup coming up? 

Jostyn AndrewsThe group chat has been lit these couple of days because of all the fast times and jumps that went on all over the nation this past week and we look at the match up this week as another chance to display our talents and show what we bring to the table ...

Texas MileSplit: What's your goal for this weekend? 

Jostyn Andrews: My Main goals for this weekend are to Stay Healthy, continue to execute my race properly and dropping my time, and of course strive for that #1 spot all while having fun.
