Texas 4x400 Teams Own The AAU Junior Olympic Games Finale

15-16 Year Old Divisions

In the 15-16 year old girls division, The Hurricanes were the club to carry the Texas torch on the top three spots of the awards stand. The Hurricanes ran a 3:53.16 to finish right behind two powerful squads in Motor City TC and Maximum Output TC. The Hurricanes are formidable in their own right and their 3:53 showing is evidence. The Wings were also in the 15-16 year old 4x400 final. They had a respectable performance with their 4:00.03 for 7th place

The boys 15-16 year old division 4x400 was another deep event for Texas. With five Texas teams in the final, chances of having a winning squad were in our favor. The Track Houston A team ensured Texas stood at the top of the awards stand. In the prelims, the Ultimate Speed Academy squad from St. Louis set a new age group record with a 3:12.18. With that, one could automatically write off everyone else in the race and crown Ultimate Speed Academy. In fact, i'm sure most had done so. However, Track Houston won the 15-16 4x400 last year and they had faith in themselves and came into the final with an expectation to repeat. Repeat is exactly what they did. Track Houston A took down the national record holders and ran a speedy 3:14.06.

The other four teams in the race were Houston Pace Setters, The Wings, Junior Speedsters, and Track Houston B. The Houston Pace Setters followed up their very impressive prelim race with a 3:18.22 for 5th place. The Wings, who had already had several teams in the other divisions managed to pull in a 6th place finish in 3:28.10. That leaves two spots on the awards stand and yep, wouldn't you know it, they belonged to TEXAS! Junior Speedsters from the Dallas area and Track Houston B would pull in the last two medal positions in 7th and 8th place cementing the Texas dominance in the 15-16 year old boys 4x400.
