Abraham Morales And Poolville Win 2A Boys Championships

2021 UIL 2A boys state championships

The UIL 2A boys division was to be a very competitive race between several teams. With Region 2-2A only having three seconds separating Poolville and Hamilton, the state meet was to be round two.

It was a second round and it was close, just not as close as the regional race. That is in part due to Poolville being having such a strong performance. They ran a 17:33 team average with only a 42 second split between the number one and number five runners.

Hamilton was still strong and also ran well. They had a 17:39 team average and a 1:18 split. Plains finished in third place overall.

What wasn't close was the individual race. Brackett senior Abraham Morales separated himself from the field between the first and the second mile.

A four year state meet qualifier, Morales was equipped with the experience and race savy to put in surge after surge. After a runner-up finish last season, he built a 16 second cushion as he ran towards the finish line to ensure his 16:04 win.

Caden Thurman from Wolfe City finished second in 16:20 and Connor Bartek of Goldthwaite was third with a time of 16:27.
