Fort Bend Marshall And Ridge Point Go Sub 41.0 4x100 Relays

MileSplit LIVE Results - Fort Bend ISD Invitational

Everyone wants to be the best in the state, region, city, etc. However, both Fort Bend Marshall and Fort Bend Ridge Point proved this weekend, that it will be a heck of an accomplishment to be the best in the school district. This weekend at the Fort Bend  ISD Invitational, we learned how steep the competition in the district will be all season long.

Despite the calendar still showing February, Marshall and Ridge Point both showed they are in tip top form at the start of the year. With over nine weeks to go before the district championships, both teams have already run sub 41.0 in the 4x100 relay. Marshall dropped a 40.46 to win the meet with Ridge Point only a step behind in 40.71.

This isn't the first time these two teams have started the season off burning hot.

Last year, Ridge Point ran 41.28 on February 10th to win the Pearland John Morris III Invitational. They would experience some knick knack injuries in between early February and the UIL 5A & 6A - District 19/20 Area Meet where they ran a 40.88 SB. Now, they're healthy and already ahead of last year's pace including where they left off at the end of the season.

Marshall is in usual territory; they've run under 41.0 in February several times before. In fact, they've run under 41.0 every year over the last 11 seasons. That's a decade long of sprinting training, development, and execution like none other.....literally. No other school in the history of high school track and field has run 40.x in the 4x100 relay for 11 consecutive like hey have.

In 2020, they had aspirations of breaking the national record. They were coming off a season when they ran 39.99 and were already running 40.40 before the COVID Pandemic shutdown. Now, they are back in front of the curve and their 40.46 is a good indication.
