Another year, another gold medal for Taytum Goodman. The Springlake Earth senior took the win in the 1A girls 3200 with a lead maintained from start to finish.
Her first lap split of 1:12 set the tone for the next seven laps as she widened the gap slowly but enough to eliminate any doubts. She turned in a time of 5:22 through one mile and looked strong through the second half to win her second straight title in the event.
Jayton sophomore Jace Chisum put together a strong effort through the race to keep her second place spot. Her final time of 11:20 put her well ahead of last year's state meet time of 12:15 where she finished fourth.
Chasity Benson was followed closely for third place through the first mile but with a consistent pace going throughout the second mile, the Roby senior claimed the final spot on the podium with a time of 11:50.
