They say home is where the heart is and that couldn't be more true than for Baylor freshman hurdler T.J. Holmes. Holmes selected the Bears over the University of Florida coming out of high school in 2013 and was reunited with childhood friend and teammate Trayvon Bromell. He finished fourth at the NCAA Championships in the 400m hurdles and as the second leg of the schools 7th place 4x400m relay and concluded his season with a gold medal at the USATF Junior Nationals and a bronze at the 2014 IAAF World Championships. Recently, he announced that he wanted to be closer to home for the remainder of his college career.

World Junior 100 meter dash record holder Trayvon Bromell has quickly shown himself as the class of the junior men's field in the 100 meter after this first round with his 10.13 clocking from heat 6 easily putting him a full tenth of second faster than the next fastest qualifier, which happens to be USA teammate Kendal Williams. The Baylor University freshmen and NCAA champ is looking to claim another major title at Hayward Field.

The stages keep getting bigger for childhood friends Trayvon Bromell and TJ Holmes. The pair have been racing each other since they were in grade school. They joined the same youth track club and grew up together. They both attended high school in south Saint Petersburg and they both landed on the prestigious Baylor track team for their first year of collegiate track. They are college roommates and will even be rooming together for the World Junior Championships in Eugene, Oregon this week.

After winning the NCAA Championship 100 meter dash last month at Hayward Field, Trayvon Bromell returned to the historic University of Oregon track for USA Juniors. The performance wasn't quite the 9.97 he put up to win his first title as a Baylor freshman, but his 10.07 was good enough for the win and a spot on team USA at the World Junior Championships next week. Bromell, one of the favorites to bring home gold will be blogging throughout his journey over the next week.

Former Gibbs High School standout Trayvon Bromell continued his fantastic freshman season as a Baylor Bear. According to Track and Field News World Rankings, Bromell's 10.01 to win the Texas Relays was the second fastest in 2014. At the Big 12 Championships this past weekend, the speedster ran 10.09, the fastest time in the prelims, and followed that by a wind-aided 9.77!  Although it was aided by a 4.2 m/s wind, that is still moving, and would give him the fastest wind-aided time in the world! Baylor finished fourth as a team behind Texas Tech, Texas, and Oklahoma State.

T.J. Holmes was an integral part of Lakewood's 2A state championship team. Holmes placed first in the 300 meter hurdles and second in the 110 meter hurdles, and was also part of the schools' third place 4x400 meter relay. Recently, the senior announced he will be joining long time friend and Gibbs senior Trayvon Bromell and run for Baylor University in Waco, Texas. We caught up with Holmes at the 3A state meet where he was supporting his future teammate to talk about his college decision.

Lauren Hagans ( 2:07, 800 ) ran very well for us as a walkon last year as well as Brittany McGuire. Look for transfer Adrian Robison from Nebraska Kearney. She ran number one for them last year in her first ever year of cross.

On the men\'s side Bo Price, Rob Morrow, and Mitch Sanders will lead the men this fall. Cody Wells will likely redshirt as he had surgery on his foot this year . Jacob Jones and Luis Gutierrez will be asked to step up again this year as they did last season. They lost two big ones in Chris Vidrine and Joel Sartain. Newcomers are John Wenhold, Greg Foster, Trey Slack, and transfer Hunter Garner.
