5A Girls Hurdles Dominated The Track At State

Showing her dominance in impressive fashion, Tairah Johnson of Fort Bend Marshall also showed she has a high level of competitive consistency as she once again went under 14 seconds in the 100H. With a sub 14 performance at Regionals John earned a gold medal running the 100H in 13.62.

Jourdin Edwards, the senior out of Prosper Rock Hill may have had her best race of the season yet when she finished second for all 5A girls in the 100H. She exploded out of the blocks and put herself in a great position to challenge Tairah Johnson. Up to the first half of the race she put up a great contest against Johnson but just fell shy of earning first. She finished with a time of 14.08.

Alexandra Harber from McKinney North ran a fantastic race earning the bronze medal with a time of 14.17.


Tairah Johnson and Chirin Chacchia to UIL 5A hurdle championships

After finishing second a year ago, Kirin Chacchia out of Frisco Heritage entered the race with some vengeance. Though she didn't get out to the quickest start, the junior quickly regained herself and delivered a strong finish. Her winning time was 42.54. 

Desirae Roberts challenged Chacchia down the back stretch and managed to walk away with a silver medal with a time of 42.73. The senior from Fort Bend Marshall closed out the final meters to hold off senior Jourdin Edwards by just .07 seconds.

Edwards, out of Prosper Rock Hill, claimed the final medal spot with a time of 42.80.
