110 meter Hurdles
A super fast 110H in the boys division was blazing fast. Kendrick Smallwood from Mesquite Poteet was the first to the hurdles and also the first to cross the finish line. He exploded through that first hurdle and seemed to carry that momentum the entire race never looking back. He earned his first place gold medal with a time of 13.44.
Kody Blackwood of McKinney North has been back and forth with Smallwood all weekend and for the 110H he just fell shy of having 2 gold medals. His first coming later in the day in the 300H. He fought a hard race and ended up coming in second with a time of 13.63.
Arveyon Davis of Fort Bend Marshall finished third earning the bronze with a time of 13.78.

Lots of anticipation was set for the 5A boys 300-meter hurdles. After winning last year, Mesquite Poteet senior Kendrick Smallwood entered the race with some confidence as the winner a year ago. He beat out Kody Blackwood from McKinney North.
This year, the two senior's swapped. Blackwood edged Smallwood to win with a time of 36.14 to get his revenge. Small wood crossed the line right behind with a time of 36.24 to claim the silver medal.
Joining them on the podium was senior Chris Brinkley out of Fort Bend Marshall with a time of 36.74. The top three hurdles will meet again as teammates in the fall at the University of Texas.
