9-9-06 - Valley View - Sanger runs away with both varsity titles It was a great day for racing in far north Texas as the Valley View Eagles hosted the Valley View Cross Country Invitational. This meet was ran on flat course with a number of 180 degree turns. It is a course that requires the athletes to think there way through the race to set themselves up for each turn. In the varsity girls race Sanger controlled the race finishing with four of there runners in the top fifteen. Lake Dallas got a very good performance from Alex Egge to pace them to a second place finish. Alyssa Schmitt from Gunter turned in a notable time of 12:25 to take individual honors. Sanger also won the men's varsity race in dominating fashion. they finished with five of their top runners in the top fifteen of the race incuding second through fifth place finishes from Brodie DeJernett, Evan Stucky, Juan Guerrero, and Charlie Erwin respectively. Brock Simmons from Liberty Christian lead the race most of the way and finished first with a time of 16:59. Congratulations to Sanger for a great performance by both the girls and boys teams.
