Q&A with Hope Jimenez

As a first generation college student in her family, senior Hope Jimenez has started the women's cross country season with a bang with two top-three finishes in her first two meets. Jimenez recently took time out of her busy schedule to talk with goUTSA.com about her transition from junior college to UTSA and how she prepares mentally and physically for her races. You've been at UTSA for a year and a half now. How do you like it compared to South Plains Junior College and how does the competition and training vary between the two? "I like UTSA a lot. It is very big and much different than South Plains. The competition is about the same, but training is harder here at UTSA than at South Plains." How have you become accustomed to training under head coach Rose Monday? "She's awesome. I've had guy coaches all through high school, so its nice to have a female coach because you can go and talk to her about any problems we're having."
