Read below to see what we talked about in our Q and A.
Texas MileSplit: Are you preparing for state any differently than you've prepared for the other meets this season and if so how are you preparing?
Carrie Fish: Our team's approach is very similar to any other meet, the primary difference is we will taper off some of the training so our bodies will be fully rested and ready to race.
How does it feel going to your 3rd state meet in your high school XC career?
I am excited and honored to make it three years in a row, and really excited to have the whole team running at state again.
Have you started looking at colleges yet and if so where are you looking?
I just started the process of looking at colleges. I definitely want to run at a D1 school, right now I like schools in the SEC, Big 10, and Big 12, no particular order.
What are you going to do differently at state then you have done in the past to try and win this year?
I am going to focus on starting fast and staying with the lead pack as long as possible. I feel as though I am in much better shape this year than in years past. I am expecting a fast race, so hopefully with my conditioning, I will be up at the front at the end.
What's your favorite memory from this season so far and why?
My favorite memory this season was at the Marcus 1 meet. The race usually has some of the top runners in the state, big crowds, and the famous levee. I achieved my goal of finishing in the top 5 and also enjoyed improving my PR by 0:30 seconds from the prior year.
