Walter E Long Park in Austin was the site for the Runtex Invitational and the Central Texas teams did not disappoint. The 5A Boys race featured some of the best talent in the state with Mark Pinales coming back from his 2nd place finish at Cedar Park last week to take the victory with a 15:25 on a tough course. The Sophomore pulled away late for hte victory over Senior Collin Smith. Collin's 15:29 was a season best time. The race also featured 4A standout James Bonn from Lockhart. James moved up staedy througout the race to grab 3rd in 15:42. Rounding out the top 5 were Brian Tabb and John McNamara running 15:59 and 16:05 respectively. The team competition came down to Lockhart and Georgetown. Lockhart edged Georgetown in an upset 56-62.
The girls race fearted Fr Bianca Sigel. The Westlake runner ran well at UTSA last week and backed it up with another victory today in convincely in 11:46. That time was a full 29 seconds over standout distance runner Roxanne Washington from Bastrop. Bastrop did win the team title 37-65 over a strong Killeen Harker Heights squad.
