In the final Athlete of the Year, the boys poll came down to another battle between some of the state's top male athletes. Texas' sprinters and distance guys put up some of the best marks and performances in the nation. All athletes entered in the poll were either SPC, TAPPS, or UIL state champs. In the end, it was Cameron Conyers, the junior of Austin St. Stephens who tallied the most votes in the public voting poll.
Conyers is a throw back sprinter. He participates in all three sprint events (100 ,200, 400) as a lot of sprinters now a days only focus on the 100 and the 200. Conyers is perhaps a 400m runner before he is a 100m, he used the 100m as his complimentary event and the improvements in his 200m and 400m PRs both drastically improved.

Conyers' highlights of the season came at the SPC championships where he won the 200m in a 21.47 PR and took second in the 400m with a 48.76, which was also another PR.
He later went on to compete at the TTFCA Meet of Champions, the Golden West Inv, and he just recently at the AAU Junior Olympic Games last week where he medaled in the 17-18 year old boys 200m with a 21.78 for eighth place.
Keep an eye on Conyers next year to see his rate of improvement in his upcoming senior season.
