State Championship Girls 2-A Preview
Who: Teams: Sundown, Seymour, San Saba, Valley Mills
Why: Sundown is the top rated girls 2A team heading into the weekend. They are coming off of last year's title run and they looked strong at the Region I meet. They lost All-State and XC Champ Andrea Sanchez to college, but they still have the experience of most of last year's group who ran to a very good 33 second split at regionals. They will have to deal with a good looking Seymour squad and a strong San Saba team. Both teams have average times that aren't too far off from Sundown. The Sun Saba girls are now sophomores and junior, so being a year older and stronger could see them get another trophy.
Individuals: Valley Mills' Hannah Dillard has been one of the top 2A runner for the last several years. She won the title back in 2015 and could be in a good position to do it again. Her teammate Sydney Reynolds impressed at the regional meet and if she can follow that up with another strong performance she chould be champion. San Saba could have last year's runner-up Kaleigh Ellis challenge for the top spot along with teammate Kylee Eckerman.
