Cierra Wash carries the baton for DeSoto during the 2017 UIL 6A state meet.

The DeSoto Girls have won two straight 6A state track and field titles and look to be in prime shape to capture their third straight.

The Eagles are loaded with most of their thoroughbreds returning to the stable. However, when you add a freshman, JaEra Grifin who is a potential All-American, that makes DeSoto the overwhelming preseason favorites to win the 6A state championships.

There will be several teams looking to take down DeSoto once again. Including in those teams has to be Cypress Springs. Cy Springs has been one of the top teams for the last several years and until they're knocked out,  consider them a challenger.....always.

Dallas area teams like Allen, Marcus, and Duncanville will be three other top challengers. Marcus and Duncanville both finished fourth and fifth last year and return talented squads. Allen returns a lot of top end talent and could be key in enabling them to challenge as well.
