Lear Promised A Record Breaking Season Adds #5 At District

Back in January, we talked with Bailey Lear, right before the Texas A&M High School Indoor Classic. At that time, she said that she wanted to break records and make a statement this season.

The senior missed out at running on the varsity level last year due to transferring. She wanted to make up for that by leaving her mark everywhere she went.

The Frisco Heritage star has definitely done that so far.

It started that first weekend at the Texas A&M indoor meet and she is still at it. Today, Lear ran in the 400m finals for district 13-5A where she broke the district meet record with a 53.64. She also ran the 200m that she added a the win with her 24.69 run.

The district 13-5A meet was rescheduled from Friday due to weather conditions to this afternoon.

This is the first district meet in two years that will enable Lear to qualify beyond this week and have the chance to get back to the state meet to try to win a state championship.

We'll see if she can add a couple of more records to her resume. The key numbers to watch out for are 52.40, which is the UIL state meet record held by Courtney Okolo and the state record of 51.96 by Brandi Cross.
