Jasmine Moore And Tre'Bien Gilbert Selected As Gatorade AOYs

Moore just completed her junior season at Mansfield Lake Ridge.

As the career for Moore continues, accomplishments seem to get bigger and better as well as harder. She won her third consecutive long jump/triple jump sweep at the UIL 5A state meet. Moore also ran the lead off leg for the Lake Ridge 4x200 relay that captured the state title and eventually the team title.

Along with the state titles, Moore added the Junior class national records both during the indoor season and the outdoor season.

In the triple jump, her signature event, Moore had another spectacular outdoor season. Her lowest winning performance on the season was 40-10 and her top five winning jumps on the season were 45-4.75 (+3.8), 44-1, 43-4, 43-0.5, and 42-9.5. The most recent competition for Moore was a 43-3 at the
USATF Junior Outdoor Championships where she qualified for Team USA and will compete in Finland later in the summer.

Perhaps the most impressive testament to Moore's season was her work ethic and unwillingness to become complacent. Her triple jump improvement is a good sign, but there is so much more. She put in the work into becoming a better and consistent long jumper, which is by her own admission the event that needed the most improvement. Moore entered the season with an outdoor best of 20-4. This season, she has five winning jumps that all surpassed that mark. She now has a 21-0.25 PR and won the USATF Juniors competition last weekend with a wind legal 20-11.5 and will compete in this event in Finland as well.
Moore's Gatorade selection can be attributed to her character displayed off the track and field just as much as her athletic accomplishments. Per the Gatorade press release, she is a devoted member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Moore has helped feed the needy and has volunteered locally on behalf of an animal shelter and youth track programs. In a statement given to Gatorade, Lake Ridge head coach, Lauren Jones said,  "Jasmine is more dedicated to perfecting her craft than any athlete I've ever coached, and I've coached former Olympic athletes. Despite all the publicity she gets, she remains grounded and continues to drive herself and her teammates to be the best they can be." Moore has maintained an A average in the classroom.

She will begin her senior year of high school this fall.
