Port Arthur Memorial lost a big advocate and ambassador for Port Arthur athletics, per panews.com. Kary Vincent Sr. grew up in PAISD and played football and ran track for Port Arthur Jefferson high school.

Jefferson has since turned into a middle school and Vincent has taught there for the last 16 years. For the last several years, he has been an assistant football at Memorial for head coach Brian Morgan and in track and field for head coach Darrell Granger.

Vincent Sr., 49 years old passed away while recently battling complications from two pneumonia episodes. One of the episode left him in a three week coma, back in September.

Vincent Sr. played college football at Texas A&M before going on to play professionally when he was a 6th round draft pick by the New Orleans Saints in 1992.

He helped coach that team to state runners-up in both seasons and to a US #2 All-Time 38.80 in the 4x100m.

He was also the father of Kary Vincent Jr. who was the UIL 5A 200m state champion in both 2016 and 2017 at Port Arthur Memorial. Vincent Jr. is currently a sophomore DB at LSU and is preparing to play in the Fiesta Bowl on New Year's Day.
