Ryan Schoppe Drops US No 4 And Ties TX No 1 14:40 5K

Ryan Schoppe competes at the 2019 UIL state track meet

Laporte senior Ryan Schoppe, the UIL 2017 and 2018 UIL 6A 3200m champ and the 2017 cross country runner-up has let us know he is still here.

Schoppe dropped a super fast 14:40 5K at his home meet, the Bulldog Invitational. He led by a large margin including winning over a minute and a half.

This weekend's time is a new PR for the senior eclipsing his 14:43.88 former top mark. Before this weekend, Schoppe's top time was 15:06.50, which he ran twenty days prior at the Region III Cross Country Preview.

The top returner from the 2018 season shows that he is ready for the back half of the 2019 season with this time. This ties him for the state lead with 2017 UIL 6A state champ Jarrett Kirk who won the McNeil Invite this weekend. It also ties Kirk for the US No time of the season.

Schoppe's next race will be this weekend at the Chile Pepper Festival in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
