The Schrader 1600 has been going on for a long and strong 12 years. The 2020 version looked to be cancelled because of COVID-19 like many of the track events this season.
However, it wasn't a cancellation, just more of a postponement and will be back for year 13 on November 14th. Usually held in May, the 1600m event is typically the end of track season; giving many athletes one last shot at racing and shooting for a PR. This year, it will be at the end of the 2020 cross country season to give the cross country athletes a chance at use their fitness to push an all out 1600m.
As with the usual Schrader 1600 events, this will allow athletes who have qualified to the state meet to get one last tune up before the UIL state meet. For others who didn't qualify beyond the UIL regionals or who's TAPPS or Homeschool seasons may be over, they will get the chance to lay it all out on the line for an all out 1600m and chase for a new personal record.
Registration is on MileSplit. Check out the Schrader 1600 website for more details or email paras@paras360.com.
