Duncanville senior Martin David-Chavez had quite a couple of days last week when he won the UIL Region 2-6A Championships and then turned around the day later and committed to run at the University of Texas on signing day.
Chavez blazed to a 14:47 5K at the meet for the win and now sets his sights to the UIL state meet next week. Chavez was admittedly nervous before the race and the butterflies got to him, but when it was time to race, he powered through to the outstanding PR; he also has his race strategy ready to go and shoot for a state title.
