Texas Boys Drop Big Marks In 60m At Galleria Games


Texas is the king of sprints with it comes to track and field. That was proven this weekend in Alabama at the Galleria Games. Led by Katy Tompkins senior David Foster and his 6.75 PR, six Texas boys finished in the top 10 and five of them ran sub 7:00.

2nd - David Foster - 6.75

3rd - Connor Washington - 6.87

4th - Robert Griffin Jr. - 6.92

5th - Nazzio John - 6.94

6th - Logan Popelka - 6.96

10th - Troy Dixon - 7.02

15 - 16 year old boys

2nd - Jelani Watkins - 6.95

Boys' 60m Heat 13

David Foster was the overall runner-up in the 60m with his heat 13 second place finish. His new PR and time of 6.75 trumps his previous best of 6.81 set last indoor season.

San Antonio Roosevelt's  Nazzio John was also in heat 13 and placed fifth overall by going 6.94.

Boys' 60m Heat 12

The Woodlands College Park senior Connor Washington is one of the top returning indoor sprinters most known for his 200m and 400m capabilities This weekend he proved his 60m prowess by winning heat 12 and going 6.87 for third place overall.

Boys' 60m Heat 11

Cypress Ridge junior Robert Griffin Jr. won heat 11 by dipping under 7:00; he ran 6.92 placing in the top 10.

Boys' 60m Heat 7 (15-16 y.o.)

Freshman Jelani Watkins is proving he will be one to watch when the high school season begins. He won his heat by going 6.95 to finish runner-up in the 15-16 year old boys 60m.
