Watch Leander Spartans Blazing Fast 1:38.53 Indoor 4x200

To run one of the fastest times in Texas history usually means you will blow away the competition. That is exactly what the Leander Spartans did at the Geneva, Ohio SPIRE Scholastic Showcase 2021 over the weekend.

The quartet of Meghan Wilcox (Cedar Park), Taylor Rioux (Austin Lake Travis), Hali Murphy (St. Dominic Savio), and Autumn Wilson (St. Dominic Savio) dominated the competition by winning the event in 1:38.53, nearly seven seconds ahead of the second place finishers (1:45.38).

That time is the fastest time on record for a Texas girl's team in the event. Although the indoor 4x200 relay isn't a frequently competed event in the state there have been some fast marks over the years. The previous fastest time was 1:40.20 by the outstanding 2008 Dallas Skyline squad.

The Leander Spartans' time was also just .04 off the 1:38.49 SPIRE 300m flat track facility record.
