Brynn Brown continues to reset the record books; she did it with her indoor performances and now she now looks to continue doing so outdoors.
Over the weekend, Brown ran Texas' third fastest official 1,600m of all-time. She now only follows Devin Clark (Smithson Valley - 2015) and Erin Bedell (Plano West - 2005).
The University of North Carolina signee also added an outdoor 800m PR of 2:16.56 at the same meet.
After losing most of her junior track season, Brown has been on a tear since returning to action during the 2020 cross country and the 2021 indoor season.
She is the 2019 UIL 6A state champion in both the 1,600m and the 3,200m where she also set a UIL 6A state meet record. However, Brown was challenged in the 1,600m state meet race back in 2019 and could get another challenge this season.
Last year, before the pandemic shutdown, the Katy Cinco Ranch duo of Heidi Nielson (4:47.90) and Sophie Atkinson (4:48.95) ran extremely fast 1,600m races the second week of March at the Alamo City Mile And Steeple and could run even faster this season.
Brown, Nielson, Atkinson, and others will still be chasing Clark and Bedell, but also superb marks from Chelsey Sveinsson, Julia Heymach, and London Culbreath who have all run 4:41.77 and faster in the longer 1 mile distance.
