It's not even cross country season yet, this sport is all about the teams and it's always a good time for a little team analysis; that is what we have here.

Here are the boy's 5,000m team averages based on the returning runners on last year's rosters and rankings.

The team averages are led by last year's UIL 5A team champion Grapevine as they carry over a 15:35.13 average for their top five returners. That average is aided by Walker St.John's 14:42.20 run at the state meet. What was once a fountain of youth for the Mustangs will be an experienced group of seniors.

The next six spots are held by UIL 6A teams with the next fastest team being averaging 17 seconds behind. Last year's UIL 6A champions Southlake Carroll check in with the second best average despite having to replace their entire top 5 scorers from the state meet.
