The Melissa girls and boys cross country programs are both going the to UIL 4A Cross Country State Championships.
Coach Kelley Pitzer (boys head coach) and Zachary Hernandez (girls head coach) both acknowledge how big of an accomplishment this is for the school. It's a building block on the past and for the future.
The boys team graduated multi year state meet qualifiers Judson Greer and Lucas Tauch and a year after running to a tie for the state championship (2nd based on tie breaker).
The girls team have had several individuals qualify over the last 10 years, but they have not had a team qualification until this season.
