2021 UIL 1A State Cross Country Championships
Taytum Goodman (Springlake Earth) harrier won her second UIL 1A individual state championship this morning. The sophomore did it in a new state meet 2 mile record of 10:59.36.
The race was decided in the first moments of the race as she raced to an early lead from her first stride. As the race progressed, Goodman would continue to extend her lead.
Goodman won last year's title as a freshman in what was then a new state meet of 11:18. After her 10:55 at the Region 1-1A Championships, it was clear that she had a shot at bettering her meet record.

Scout Braly (Crosbyton) was second in 12:06 and Daylee Chisum (Jayton), another sophomore was third with her time of 12:22.
Imperial Buena Vista won the team title with 105 points as Gabriela Sanchez as their lead runner. Spur was the runner-up team with 142 points, finishing just 2 pointe of Gail Borden who totalled 144 points.
