At this time of year, the early signing period has already passed and the next signing day is just around the corner in February. That means the opportunities for high school seniors to get the attention of college coaches starts with the indoor season.
Indoor meets like the Texas A&M High School Indoor Invitational to some kids represents their shot to perform. The urgency these young athletes feel is real and the emphasis they place on the indoor track and field season comes through in the piece. It exhibits what is going on behind the scenes when you see kids compete at A&M, the Carl Lewis Inv., The Arkansas HS Inv., Texas Tech Under Armour HS Inv., and more.
This weekend, another indoor season embarks and another class of senior track and field athletes will compete. Many of them did not get opportunities to compete last season due to COVID-19 which limited the indoor season nationally.
