Natalie Cook (Flower Mound) had the type of cross country season that dreams are made of. With the season having concluded almost two months ago, the fairy tale still continues.

Cook was just named Gatorade Player of the Year for the state of Texas girls cross country season. That places her in the pool with the other state winners as a nominee for the Gatorade national award.

Cook has a very good shot at adding it as one more accomplishment to her high school cross country career that has in essence officially ended.

Her epic never done before achievement of winning both girls national championship races (RunningLane and Eastbay) makes good odds for Cook to win the overall national award.

Other key accomplishments this season were: All-Time No. 2 5,000m time of 16:03.93, five sub 16:40 performances, Eastbay South win, and UIL 6A state meet win.
