The Greenhill 6 Mile relay is a unique event held in Dallas at the start of the Cross Country Season. It consists of teams of 4. Each team member runs a 1.5 mile relay leg. In order to simulate European Cross Country courses hay stacks are place in certain areas. The uniqueness does not stop there. Instead of a baton that is traditionally used in Track relay races each team has a work glove.
In 2003 77 school competed in various categories. This year the categories include Elite, 5A/4A, 3A-Under, JV-A, JV-B, and Open for parents and coaches.
Team trophies will be awarded to the top 5 teams in each division. Plaques will be awarded to the 1st place team members in each varsity division with trophies awarded to the 1st place team members in each J.V. division. Trophies for relay members will be awarded to the 2nd and 3rd place teams in each division.
In 2003 the Elite Division race saw the Southlake Carroll Girls break the course record in 36:05 (Alberto, Dickens, Upshaw, Walker). Also in the Eltie Division the Keller boys broke the course record in 30:37 (Hanson, Piersall, Garner, Schwartz).
