Trooper Twilight varsity boys race

Luis Pastor handled the terrain changes and the competition to get the individual win at the Trooper Twilight, hosted by El Paso Eastwood. The Coronado senior paced the best runners out west until he decided to pull away and cruise home to the 15:56 win. That helped his team to a third place overall finish.
The exciting part of the meet was the Franklin vs Eastwood team battle. Franklin was due for a week off after traveling to the DFW area last weekend, but they wanted the crosstown matchup as much as the spectators wanted it.
On Saturday, the Cross Country Coaches Association ranked Franklin No. 6 and Eastwood No. 8 in the 6A rankings and the two teams lived up to those rankings especially now close they were. The proximity of the rankings was just as close as the actual race. Only four points separated the two teams as the 54-57 score went Franklins way to spoil the host team's meet.
