MEET PREVIEW: UIL REGION 3 CHAMPIONSHIPS


Region 3 - 5A

Girls

Many central, Austin, and Houston 5A programs have been lifting lots of eyebrows for this year's cross country season. College Station coming in as state ranked number 3 have been blazing the xc scene statewide and they're looking to further display why they deserve a spot on moving on into the UIL State Cross Country Championships, the cougars are coming in with a top five team average of 18:48.10, Georgetown High coming in ranked 2nd and state ranked number four feel like they have more to show and will give the cougars a run for their money, the Georgetown girls have a team average of 18:50.88, coming in ranked third in 5A Region 3 are the lady Falcons of Richmond Foster High, the falcons have a team average of 20:11.12, fouth seed team is the herd of mustanges out of Friendswood High, the mustangs are coming off of a tough district title with a team average of 20:17.30, fifth seed College Station A&M Consolidated are coming off of one of the toughest districts in the region, A&M Consolidated is coming in with a team average of  20:25.76, the sixth seed is the lady lions of Lake Creek High School, also coming in from the same district as the cougars of College station and A&M Consolidated, lake creek is coming in with a team average of 20:28.03, seventh seed are the lady Bulldogs of Magnolia High, the bulldogs are coming in with a team average of 20:38.23, and eighth seed of the fourth place finishers from last years UIL Region 3 Championships the other lady Bulldogs of La Porte High School where they are looking to make their apperance known once again, they're coming in with a team average of 20:41.44

Mckenzie Bailey a senior from Georgetown and TCU verbal commit is coming in with the fastest seeded time running 17:17.38 where she ran at the 2022 Feast Patriot 20th Annual HS & MS XC Invitational, she is also currently ranked number two in the state for conference 5A. 

Megan Roberts a senior from College Station is leading the dem of cougars and is sitting second with a personal best time of 18:18.20 where she ran at the Nike South Invitational, third seed is Katherine Brunson a junior from College Station is coming in with a time of 18:32.70 where she also ran at the Nike South Invitational, fourth seed Maddie Jones a junior from College Station has a personal best time coming in with an 18:45.20 where she ran at the 2022 Marcus Coach T Invitational, fifth seed Delany Ulrich of College Station has a personal best 18:53.00 ran at the Westlake Chaparral invitational. If these girls don't display pack running then I don't know what does.

Emily Morales of Georgetown is coming in as the sixth seed having a personal best time of 18:55.00 ran at the GT/EV XC Invitational.

Valerie Haros a junior from Magnolia West is coming in as the seventh seed with a time of 18:58.40 ran at the 2022 Strake Jesuit XC Invitational

Morgan Campbell a freshman from Port Neches Grove is coming in at the eighth seed running a time of 18:59.70 at the 2022 Soaring Eagles Invitational


Boys

Once again lots many central Texas, Austin, and Houston teams are coming in hot leading into the regional race. Number three state ranked Georgetown is coming in as the fastest team coming into the UIL 5A Region 3 Championships having a team average of 15:56.72, second seed for region 3 is district rival Georgetown East View having a team average of 16:12.40, number three seed and last years 5A Region 3 third place team is the mustangs from Friendswood. The district champs are coming in as district champs and are looking to carry their momentum coming into regionals, they have a team average of 16:23.51, the fourth seed team goes to the lions of Lake Creek High having a team average of 16:25.27, the fifth seed team are the Cougars of College Station having a team average of 16:35.74, sixth seed team College Station A&M Consolidated has a team average of 16:46.07. Now here's a group of guys who may be the seventh seed team but are coming back into regionals as last year's UIL Region 3 Champions the La Porte Bulldogs, the bulldogs are coming in with a team average of 16:57.42. 

Antonio Pena a senior from Georgetown East View High School is coming in as the fastest seeded athlete running a time of 15:05.00 ran at the 2022 San Marcos River Invitational

Aaron Cirrenden a senior from Killeen Ellison is the second seed with a personal best time running 15:20.69 ran at the 2022 Mansfield Daniel Maberry 14th Annual Invitational

Joseph Wienen and Nolan House are both juniors at Georgetown High, Wienen and House are seeded third and fourth, Wienen running 15:32.00 ran at the 2022 GT/EV XC Invitational, and House just two seconds behind running 15:34.00 ran at the 2022 GT/EV XC Invitational too. 

Brady Axtell a senior from La Porte finished second overall in last year's UIL 5A Region 3 race, his personal best time is having him seated fifth overall in this year's race coming in at 15:36.10 on his own home turf at the 2022 La Porte Bulldog Invitational

Zade Kayyali and Seth Thompson of Friendswood are both coming in sixth and seventh seed leading into this year's regional race, Kayyali is coming in with a personal best of 15:59.00 where he ran at the 2022 Nike South Invitational, and Thompson has a personal best time of 15:41.60 where he ran at the 2022 Nike South Invitational too. 

Carter Gordy of Lake Creek High School possibly one of the biggest targets in 5A statewide already is coming in as last year's UIL 5A regional champion, he has a personal best time of 15:44.10 this season.
