Adam Burlison and Alberto Rayon race it out and head towards the finish line at the 2022 UIL 5A State Championships

Adam Burlison and Alberto Rayon are two of Grapevine's top runners; in fact, they are two of the state's top runners. Burlison finished runner-up at the 2022 UIL 5A state meet and Rayon finished only 0.80 behind him in third place.
After Burlison's transfer last spring, he hammered down and focused this summer to commit to running. In that time, he perfected his craft and has been on fire all cross country season.
Rayon was off to a great start in the summer, but was sidelined by a slight injury. Time off and cross training kept him in shape. When he was 100% healthy and able to compete, he demonstrated he was in good fitness shape.
The two mustangs improved throughout the championship season and now that the state meet is complete, they have post season aspirations of letting the whole country know who they are.

Grapevine's head man, Rick Miller, shared his outlook at the beginning of the 2022 season after graduating five runners from last year's fifth best team nationally. He analyzed his team and trained them to be in position to win their third consecutive UIL 5A state championship.
Miller also shared how his top two runners handled the season, their growth, as well as their leadership. Miller then talked about the entire season and his team's state meet race.
