We already saw Nyckoles Harbor (Archbishop Carroll, DC)run 6.66 in the 60m prelims on Friday night. Well, he was saving somethings for Saturday as he ran even faster in the 60m finals and the 200m prelims. He wasn't the only sprinter who travelled to Lubbock, Texas and who was ready to have a heck of a weekend.
Jelani Watkins (Klein Forest, TX) also had impressive runs in the 60m prelims. He ran 6.79 on Friday while also saving some extra tricks in his bag.
In the finals, a total of six boys sprinted under 6.90 and under with the top 10 finishers all under 7.00. Harbor and Watkins both turned things up a notch with Harbor running 6.64 to tie the seventh all-time best time in the event. Watkins lowered his best time to 6.67.
The 24 foot long jumper, Miles Jones (Mansfield Lake Ridge, TX) who is currently still in basketball season came out to run 6.73 in the prelims and was able to repeat that performance with another 6.73 in the finals for third place. Jones has never run in his high school career was a surprise to everyone, but said, "I've been trying to tell everyone I can run."

The boys 200m was another crowd pleasing event. There were 68 preliminary round races, but some of the heat winners left the over capacity crowd in awe.
Harbor would lower his fifth best all-time performance of 20.79 from last year's event with his new 20.76 PR run that dazzled the crowd. However, Watkins and three other boys would run prove they were ready for to challenge Harbor as all four boys ran under 21.4 in the prelims.
