SAN ANTONIO - There are very few runners that can cross over between the 400m and 800m and be great in both events. The list of boys in the San Antonio Metro area who have broke 52 seconds in the 400m and 2:00 in the 800m is exactly two.
The two runners who make up the list are both from District 29-6A and they will need to get used to seeing each other on the track. The top combined 400m-800m runner is Elijah Hernandez from Sotomayor. He has run 50.71 in the 400m and 1:56.24 in the 800m and will compete for District titles in both events. Taft's Ethan Johnson is second on the list and is just behind Hernandez in both events. He has run 51.48 in the 400m and 1:57.20 in the 800m.
The only school to have two runners who have a combined time under 3:00 is Reagan. Ethan Rodriguez is overall #3 on the list and is an excellent 800m and 1600m runner for the Rattlers. Joining him on the exclusive list is Evan Ganske.
