At the 2023 Texas Relays, we saw how explosive the rest of the outdoor track and field season could be. We witnessed several top 10 all-time performances on the girls side. However, at the top of that heap were two state records broken as well as a Texas Relays record.
Last year, the Flower Mound girls 4x800 relay broke the Texas Relays along with the state meet record when they ran 8:57.39. As impressive as that was, they were knocked down to the No. 2 all-time performance on Saturday. The Lady Jaguars graduated two of last year's runners, but this weekend they managed to run nearly two seconds faster than their own record.

It's wasn't a bad idea to have Samantha Humphries and Nicole Humphries on the ends of the relay. The two produced a 2:08.73 and a 2:10.46 carries to start and end the performance, but they were supported by Alexandra Fox and Abbey Coberly. Fox And Cobery turned in outstanding runs of 2:15.77 and 2:20.84 as they helped keep the lead that was initiated from the beginning and was never relented. The quartet ended with a 8:55.80 meet and state record.
Allen senior Sidney Green entered the 2023 track and field season ranked No. 3 on the Texas girls all-time 300 meter hurdles list. Her 40.82 was the mark and a personal record until Friday at the Texas Relays.
That's when the University of Michigan signee ran faster, climbing the all-time rankings. She used a 40.63 to set the Texas Relays high school girls record as well as the No. 1 all-time performance in the state of Texas.

Randolph sophomore Taylor Nunez also had a record setting day in Austin. The young sprinter fared well at Mike A. Myers stadium as last season when she won three gold medals and thanks to her teammates she was able to add the team trophy to her collection. This weekend, Nunez again enjoyed success as she dazzled the crowd in the 100m with a 11.53. The wind legal performance was a Texas Relays Division I girls meet record.
Nunez also won the girls long jump competition. After fouling on her first attempt, she put the pressure on the field with a 19-2.75 mark followed by a 19-6.25. Although jumping into a negative head wind, Nunez with a 19-1.50 in the finals followed by a 19-8.25 to take the lead back and the win.
Another dazzling girls 100m performance was in the Division II girls finals. Carrollton Smith senior Aniyah Bigam had a solid race that would propel her up the all-time list. Her 11.35 with only a 1.4 meter per second wind reading puts her sixth on the all-time list.
Bigham now only sits behind names like Victoria Jordan, Tiffany Townsend, Jasmine Montgomery, Sha'Carri Richardson, and Autumn Wilson.
