The girls POW poll is increasingly getting tougher to make the top eight nominees. Running fast, throwing far, or even jumping and vaulting high isn't even enough. Last week, it took an all-time performance or close to a top rankings to event get on the list.
Last weekend, Lauren Lewis (Prosper) was dazzling on the track. She ran 23.55 in the 200m and then a low 53 second 400m followed by an even faster 52.52 at the Jesuit-Sheaner Invitational. That helped her earn over half of the vote in last week's POW award as she had 54% of the overall vote.
The Texas Relays had some of the best season performances in the individual and relay events. Texas Relays event records were broken and even state records were broken.
