Kevin Sanchez is having a whirlwind type of senior season. He won back-to-back state cross country and Austin Vandegrift finished runner-up in the team title. However, they had the infamous bandit situation overshadow their accomplishments. He then qualified for both national championship races, but suffered an injury disabling him from competing at his best capabilities.
Sanchez rehabbed and is still generating the fitness level he needs to end track season the way he wants. However, he ran 8:56 in the New Balance Nationals Indoor two-mile event, 14:21 to win the Texas Distance Festival 5,000m, and recently anchored Vandegrift's DMR to a Texas Relays win and then he won the 3200m event the next day.
Kevin talks candidly about things and shares his potential path to completing the rest of his 2023 track and field season.
