The Woodlands junior Stoya Laydevant had an amazing track season last spring qualifying for the UIL 6A state meet in the 3200m and running a 10:42 PR during the season as well as with a 4:59 1600m personal best. To combine with her distance prowess, she also ran 2:14 in the 800m demonstrating talent and her range.
This weekend, Laydevant competed in her first 5,000m race of the the 2023 cross country season, turning in a 18:00 personal best in the 5,000m, winning the Strake Jesuit XC Invitational.
She was the seventeenth place finisher at the 2022 cross country state championships and had a 18:28 personal best in the 5K at the end of the season. That former best is now long gone in just the second weekend of September for the leader of the Lady Highlanders.
