Elizabeth Leachman is enjoying a prosperous 2023 cross country season.

After running 4:47 and 10:17 in the 1,600m and 3,200m to win UIL Class 5A state titles in June, followed by a freshman national record of 9:57 in the two mile at Nike Outdoor Nationals, there was a lot of intrigue surrounding the sophomore's cross county season.

The Boerne Champion harrier hasn't disappointed. She's come through impressively and has competed at an amazing clip so far this year and her season is still at full throttle.

We recorded a workout of Leachman with her Champion High School teammates as they ran "The Michigan," which consisted of a 1,600m, 1,200m, 800m, 400m on the track followed by a mile tempo run on the road between sets.

Leachman ran with the Champion boys and produced a 5:16 (5:31 tempo), 3:53 (5:28 tempo), 2:28 (5:30 tempo) and a 1:05 for the workout.

Her training partners were Luis Tovar (1:56, 4:24, 15:58), Caleb Dehart (1:58, 4:43, 16:18),  Charles Houck (4:30, 9:43, 16:20), and Ben Matamoros (10:28 and 16:34) from the Champion boys team.
