The 2024 indoor track and field sprint season got off to a great start at the FasTrak Athletix High School Indoor Challenge. While we are still in December 2023, some Texas boys got an early season measuring stick of their preseason training.
In the boys 60m finals, six athletes ran under 7.00. Michael Rucker (Spring Dekaney) represented his club team Track Houston and blazed to a 6.82 to win the event and a national leading mark.
Rucker edged out Justin Stewart (Hurst Bell) who was representing his club team (AP Performance). Stewart dashed to a swift time of 6.85 to place second.
Rucker also added a 22.02 run to win the 200m.
