Not many athletes have the ability to medal at the Texas UIL 6A state track and field event as a freshman. Even less have been lucky enough to medal at the UIL 6A state meet four consecutive years.
Well, that is the position Jayden Keys is in. The Georgia signee has earned a bronze medal in three consecutive state championships and last spring, he added two more in the 110-meter hurdles and the 300-meter hurdles.
While Keys would like to turn any one of those medals to gold this season, it looks like he has been doing more than desiring it.
This indoor season, the Katy Tompkins senior has already hit the national rankings in the 60-meter hurdles and the long jump. A new personal best 7.86 to capture a No. 7 national ranking. In the same meet, he also jumped 23-10.25 for a No. 5 national ranking.
With elite level track and field ability in his bloodlines, Keys appears to be working towards more state meet medals this season.
